Membership Qualification Criteria

Applicants for REALTOR® membership must maintain a current, valid Missouri real estate broker's or salesperson's license or must be licensed or certified by an appropriate state regulatory agency to engage in the appraisal of real property and must be actively engaged in the real estate business.  (If you do not have a Missouri real estate license, click here.) 

 Each office shall designate one REALTOR® Member who shall be responsible for all duties and obligations of Membership. The "Designated REALTOR®" must be a sole proprietor, partner, corporate officer or branch office manager acting on behalf of the firm's principal(s) and must meet all other qualifications for REALTOR® membership. The "Designated REALTOR®" is referred to as the "Participant" of the Multiple Listing Service. All licensees affiliated with a Participant are required to join the Multiple Listing Service.

To apply for Board and Multiple Listing Service Access:

Office

All licensees affiliated with the Designated REALTOR® are required to join the board (or the DR may elect to be assessed non-member dues from the local, state, and national associations) and the MLS.

  1. DR to Complete the application forms
  2. Bring a copy of MREC office license or work permit, and MREC Broker license or work permit for the Designated REALTOR® (DR)
  3. If the DR was, or still is, a member of another Board of REALTORS®, bring a copy of a Letter of Good Standing from that board.
  4. Complete an IDX Agreement
  5. Pay fees
  6. All licensees affiliated with DR are required to join the MLS.

Individual (is not a member of another board)

In order for an individual to apply for membership in this board and MLS, he/she must be licensed with a Designated REALTOR® who is a member of this board and MLS.

  1. Complete the application forms (AppMar and Orientation Agreement)
  2. Bring a copy of Work Permit or License
  3. Bring a Key Lease Agreement signed by the Designated REALTOR®
  4. Pay fees
  5. Conditional membership is granted at this point. Your application will be reviewed by the Board of Directors and if accepted for membership, you are required to attend an Orientation Class which includes new member Code of Ethics Training before your membership is complete. You will be notified when an Orientation Class is scheduled. Class begins at 9:00 am and ends at 4:30 pm with a 1-hour break for lunch.

Individual (is a member of another board)

In order for an individual to apply for membership in this board and MLS, he/she must be licensed with a Designated REALTOR® who is a member of this board and MLS.

  1. Complete the Application Forms and Orientation Agreement
  2. Bring a copy of Work Permit or License
  3. Bring a Letter of Good Standing from your Primary board
  4. Bring a Key Lease Agreement signed by the Designated REALTOR®
  5. Pay fees
  6. Conditional membership is granted at this point. Your application will be reviewed by the Board of Directors and if accepted for membership, you are required to attend an Orientation Class before your membership is complete. You will be notified when an Orientation Class is scheduled. Class begins at 9:00 am and ends at noon.

To apply for MLS Access Only:

Office

All licensees affiliated with a Designated REALTOR® are required to join the Multiple Listing Service.

  1. DR to complete the application forms
  2. Bring a copy of MREC office license or work permit, and MREC Broker license or work permit for the Designated REALTOR® (DR)
  3. Bring a Letter of Good Standing from DR's primary board
  4. Complete an IDX Agreement
  5. Pay fees
  6. All licensees affiliated with DR are required to join the MLS.

Individual (is a member of another board)

In order for a licensee to apply for membership in this MLS, he/she must be licensed with a Designated REALTOR® who is a Participant in this MLS.

  1. Complete the Application Forms and Orientation Agreement
  2. Bring a copy of Work Permit or License
  3. Bring a Letter of Good Standing from your Primary board
  4. Bring a Key Lease Agreement signed by the Designated REALTOR®
  5. Pay fees
  6. Conditional membership is granted at this point. Your application will be reviewed by the Board of Directors and if accepted for membership, you are required to attend an Orientation Class before your membership is complete. You will be notified when an Orientation Class is scheduled. Class begins at 9:00 am and ends at noon.
